Roadcuts along I 64 just west of Morehead Weigh Station, Kentucky
Mississippian Newman Formation shoaling up shallow water carbonate, with tidal/or storm generated channels & offshore shales overlain by Pennington Formation nearshore and deltaic clastics.

Stop - Interstate 64 just east of the Morehead exit Kentucky

Facies: Mixed intertidal to subtidal carbonates cut by tidal and storm channel carbonates and capped by ooid shoals with overlying orthquartzite barriers.
Ages: Mississippian with overlying Pennsylvanian boundary on the Newman Fomation.

Unless otherwise indicated these images were photographed by Christopher Kendall using a digital Coolpix camera.
