005 The Ross Formation of Loop Head is here expressed as turbidite sheet sands that accumulated as deepwater fan lobes that were dissected by sparse shallowly incised channels. Elliot (2000) records that these are thicker bedded, high net-to-gross, sheet turbidites of the lower part of the Ross Sandstone Formation.
