Spanish Point exposures of the Doonlicky Formation Clastic Cycles

This page represents a gallery of photographs that illustrate the geology of the Doonlicky Formation Cyclothems where they outcrop along the Atlantic shore at Spanish Point north of the Shannon Estuary. Click on highlighted Deepwater Gallery for access to a completete index to this gallery or access items from this gallery using the pull down menu on the header bar above.

The photographs in this gallery were taken by Christopher Kendall, and Peter Haughton.

The gallery illustrates the character of the sediments of the Doonlicky Formation Cyclothems including a condensed sequence with Goniatite R.bilingue. The section exposes shallow water shelf and delta margin clastic sediments with occasional channeling.
