A Perspective View of a Deepwater Mud Rich Fan

Stacking patterns

Sedimentary structures

This figure below illustrates the general perspective of the morphology of a deepwater fan composed of mud. The architecture of the component "elements" is represented by channels, levees, and splay sheets that have stacking patterns that, in conjunction with the sediments and their associated sedimentary structures, are used to interpret and so determine the depositional setting and continuity of these features.
