USC website
on Sequence Stratigraphy is proud to be supported by an Industrial
Association of the following companies:-

Petroleum Corporation |

Petroleum
companies have joined the industrial association to support
the extension and further development of this educational website.
Lately they have supported field work by Peter Haughton, of
UCD, and Christopher Kendall, of USC, to build a “public-domain
on-line” photographic gallery capturing the classic Carboniferous
delta, slope and deepwater outcrops from Loop Head north to
the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare, Ireland. This gallery is being
incorporated into exercises that involve the interpretation
of the outcrops, basin fill history and concepts of dynamic
stratigraphy using movies, maps and cross sections.
Part
of the justification for this support is the provision to industrial
associate employees to:
-
Access
to depositional analogues of hydrocarbon fields and plays in
a sequence stratigraphic framework explained with text, movies,
and exercises
- Enhance the training
in sequence stratigraphy of employees and USC and other students
worldwide
-
Gain
familiarity with new concepts of sequence stratigraphy
-
Motivate
learning new ways to study sequence stratigraphy and geology
-
Choice
of pace and particular interest in the web exercises and courses
-
Ready
access to web site anytime/anywhere
-
Access
easily downloadable published and unpublished sequence stratigraphic
contributions, particularly exercises
-
No
longer spend long periods away from the office to attend classes
in sequence stratigraphy
-
Enable
instructors to use less time in classroom and more preparing
and organizing data from web
-
Provide
a medium for sequence stratigraphers employed by associate member
companies to collaborate internally and communicate externally
-
Effectively
teach the use of new technology and media (VR Quick Time movies,
Real Media, etc) to pass on new information to fellow workers
and instructors
The USC
sequence stratigraphy web site provides global learning materials
and is constantly updated as a sequence stratigraphy repository.
Gifts of sequence stratigraphic data from associate company provides
teaching materials that enhance the reputation of the doners as
the originators of this geological discipline, while showcasing
and further developing this burgeoning discipline of earth sciences.
