A surface that separates older from younger rock and is marked by deeper-water strata resting on shallower-water strata. Flooding surface is commonly refered to maximum flooding surface (mfs) (Vail, et al., 1977; Van Wagoner et al., 1988, 1990, 1995; Posamentier et al., 1999 )
