Mid Fan
This is the segment of the basin floor fan proper. It is just down slope from the proximal fan which in turn extends into the toe of slope channels and their associated coarser sediment (Beaubouef et al, 1999). Erosion from the canyons into the slope and the updip incision of fluvial valleys into the shelf feed the sediment that are spread out over the fan proper. This portion of the basin-floor fan has a flattened surface and a few channels. Traced seaward across the basin floor fan the mid fan extends into the distal fan.
