Two-sided Clastic and Carbonate Fill of a Sedimentary Basin

A succession of genetically related parasequences that form a distinctive stacking pattern that in many cases is bounded by major marine-flooding surfaces and their correlative surfaces (AAPG Methods in Exploration 7, 1990.) These include aggrading, prograding, and retrogradational parasequence sets.
Patterns of the stacking of parasequence sets are used in conjunction with bounding surfaces and their position within a sequence to define systems tracts (Van Wagoner et al., 1988).
